I arrived in New Zealand on 27th July, having lost a day crossing the Pacific! I got a great welcome from Rob and Jackie Hawley and Luke: their house overlooks Evans Bay, which is a mile and a half east of the centre of Wellington. I have enjoyed exploring the city, especially Te Papa Museum, Old St Paul's Church and the Botanic Gardens. Last weekend Rob took me to visit "his mountain": Mt Ruapehu in Tongariro National Park. We walked in the snow in the morning, and later in the afternoon we relaxed in outdoor hot pools near Lake Taupo: awesome! On the way home we had lunch with John & Rachel Wright in Wanganui, and it was great to see them again.
